Artist in Residence at Stephens House and Gardens: April - October, 2015

For the next six months I will be the artist in residence at Stephens House and Gardens in Finchley!
www.stephenshouseandgardens.com
I will be painting and drawing on the site from April through October, as well as working in a little studio in the 'Secret Tower' (It's in the highest part of the bulding)
This was the smoking room of Henry 'Inky' Stephens (heir to the Stephens Ink Company) where it is said that one day as he looked out at the view, he had made the decision to gift the estate to the people. The decor is unchanged since Victorian times, with a 360 degree view of the estate and north London.
The gardens provide a mixed landscaped with an Arboretum. This has some of the most unique trees in London. There is also a walled garden called the 'Bothy' which is maintained by local volunteers. You can also visit a boutique museum called the 'Stephens Collection' that tracks the life of Henry ‘Inky’ Stephens with antique ink bottles and drawing pens, artefacts and memorabilia from the history of the man, his business and his passions.

Watch this space for residency updates, works in progress, workshops, exhibitions and news.
